Dear Editor, I thought Mr Fitzpatrick’s letter about India (I’ll stick with sweet Paris, thank you, Post May 19) rather ungracious and misleading.
Firstly, I do not understand his point about flights.
Anyone who knows anything about visiting India from the Midlands is of the view that there are not enough direct flights to India from Birmingham, but I do know that much is being done to rectify this in the near future.
As for the point about visas, I do agree that the system is complicated, but suggesting corruption here in Birmingham is both ungracious and untrue and a slur on the hard-working Consul-General and his staff.
Yes, you can use a “third party” to get your Indian visa; I often do and they are called travel agents. They will also arrange your visa to any other country you care to mention.
I visit India at least three times per year where I help run a charity hospital and I would encourage everyone who can to visit this wonderful and welcoming country.
