Dear Editor, It is now too late to do anything about Swine Flu entering the UK. However, the government do need to review the threshold at which some effort is made to quarantine people before flying.

A number of people caught swine flu on the plane flying into Birmingham. This is why Birmingham has more swine flu than other cities. The government still does not have an answer about cross infection in the air.

The Government’s response was that they followed World Health Organisation recommendations.

My main concern remains the inaction about dealing with cross infection in the air rather than closing borders.

It, however, should be possible to do something short of closing borders that reduces the speed at which the disease spreads.

Reducing the speed of spreading the disease may not reduce the number of people who get the disease, but it does mean it is easier for the health professionals to cope with the consequences.
