Fewer people are being admitted to West Midlands hospitals with flu-like illnesses, health officials have said.
NHS West Midlands said one person with swine flu had died in the past fortnight, bringing the total number of H1N1-related deaths in the region to 45.
Dr Rashmi Shukla, a director at the health board, said: "Sadly there has been another swine-flu related death in the West Midlands.
"We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this patient.
"This sad news reminds us that even though most cases of swine flu are mild, it can be serious and potentially fatal and the people of this region should remain vigilant in helping prevent the spread of the virus."
