Two men have been charged with burglary after allegedly being caught on camera by a quick-witted member of the public in Sutton Coldfield .
The men are accused of burgling homes in Lichfield Road and Butlers Lane in Four Oaks and Clifton Road between 4pm and 7:30pm on August 31.
A number of items were stolen including mobile phones, a laptop, jewellery and electrical equipment.
At the second address in Butlers Lane, a passer-by witnessed two men climbing out of a window.
The witness called police and gave a description of the burglars before following them to Butlers Lane train station, Sutton Coldfield, where he took photos of two men on his camera.
Officers from Birmingham police then contacted British Transport Police who arrested two men at Birmingham New Street station just after 8pm the same day.
Det Const Curt Wilkins, from CID at north Birmingham police, said: "We thank the member of the public for his incredible work. After three burglary offences were committed in daylight hours, two men were arrested at New Street station.
"We would always ask members of public to call police when they see a crime in progress and never put themselves at risk. On this occasion his quick thinking led to some excellent arrests."
