There were mixed fortunes for Dudley Kingswinford and Cleobury Mortimer, the two North Midlands' survivors in Powergen-sponsored RFU cup competitions, when the semi-final draws were made.

Dudley's reward for ending Weston-super-Mare's unbeaten record last Saturday is a home semi-final in the Intermediate Cup against North One side Morley.

But Cleobury Mortimer's hopes of a home semi-final in the Junior Vase were dashed. They had enjoyed home advantage for six consecutive rounds but they must now travel to play London Exiles, from Surrey One. The Exiles are based in Barnes. Both matches will be played during the weekend of February 25.

Cleobury reached the last four with a tense 3-0 win over North Midlands rivals Old Saltleians in last Saturday's quarter-final at Love Lane. Fly-half Allan Shields landed the deciding penalty in the tenth minute of extra time.

Cleobury, the first Shropshire club to reach the Vase semi-finals, will aim to emulate Malvern, the only North Midlands side to win the competition, in 1994. D-K were beaten 21-10 by Old Aldwinians in the final at Twickenham seven years ago.
