Sugababe Keisha Buchanan has been disqualified from driving after admitting speeding in Warwickshire.

The 24-year-old singer was caught doing 85mph on a temporary 50mph stretch of the M6 near Nuneaton.

She pleaded guilty to exceeding a 30mph limit on a restricted road at a hearing at Nuneaton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Londoner Buchanan was fined £1,250, ordered to pay £70 costs, and disqualified from driving for 21 days.

The court heard how speed cameras captured Buchanan roaring down the M6 in her Land Rover at 85mph on January 4. The temporary speed limit was 50 mph.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service West Midlands confirmed that the singer had appeared at Nuneaton Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to the driving offence.

Buchanan is one of three singers in the successful pop band Sugababes. The female trio have had hits including Round Round, Push the Button, Hole in the Head and Freak Like Me.

Yesterday it was reported that the Sugababes have been forced to temporarily cancel promotion for their new single ‘Get Sexy’ after band members Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah were diagnosed with a “severe bout of flu”.

The group, who premiered the new single earlier this month, will resume their schedule once medical staff give the pair the all-clear.

“They’ve been instructed to take at least a week off before a reassessment and so will unfortunately be out of action for at least the next seven days,” a statement reads.
