A strong Birmingham City reserve XI were held to a disappointing goalless draw by Everton in their Barclays Premiership Reserve League North encounter last night.

Blues started with Stan Lazaridis, Olivier Tebily, Jamie Clapham, Neil Kilkenny, Stephen Clemence and David Dunn amongst their ranks, but still failed to overcome a young Everton side.

Clemence went close to opening the scoring with a curling shot and Tebily had a effort cleared off the line during the first period.

Dunn was taken off after 56 minutes and it was his replacement, Oliver Allen, who went closest to breaking the deadlock.

The former West Ham United youngster raced into the penalty area and neatly flicked the ball past Everton goalkeeper John Ruddy, only to see his effort acrobatically cleared off the line at the last minute by Sean Wright.
