A man who became obsessed with an aristocrat appeared in court yesterday for harassing her.

Stephen Adamson (45) from Broadway, Worcestershire, was convicted of harassing Lady Rosalthe Rundall in May.

He was due to be sentenced at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court yesterday but the case was adjourned for psychiatric tests.

Adamson has a history of pestering Lady Rosalthe, who lives on a Cotswold estate.

In August 2004 he was convicted of breaching a restraining order preventing him contacting Lady Rosalthe at her farmhouse in Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire.

He initially applied for a job to work as her cleaner but began bombarding her with letters and telephone calls up to 16 times a day.

A restraining order was imposed but Adamson breached it, sending her newspaper cuttings and putting up posters.

At the August 2004 hearing Adamson was given a five-month prison term suspended for two years.

Yesterday he was remanded in custody until the next hearing.
