Stainless steel worth around £100,000 has been stolen in the Black Country.

The haul was loaded on four pallets to be used for conveyor belts at a unit in Peartree Lane Industrial Estate in Netherton, Dudley.

West Midlands Police said the thieves struck shortly after 8am on February 21, loading the metal into a distinctive Ford Transit flat-bed truck.

PC Daniel Hall, from the Merry Hill and Woodside Neighbourhood Team, said: "This is a significant load for the offenders to move and it would have been fairly noticeable.

"Due to the weight of the metal, a number of people must have been involved in the theft in order to move it from its storage place to the truck.

"We can only assume that the offenders plan to sell on this metal, and we remind local scrap dealers of their duty when it comes to accepting goods which are of a suspicious nature."
