Renewed peace talks are under way in a last ditch attempt to settle the long-running legal battle which has torn apart the family behind the Patak food empire.

The bitter row between Kirit Pathak, boss of the Lancashire-based £80 million Patak curry sauce company, and his two married sisters had been due to resume in the High Court in London yesterday.

But as one deadline after another for the hearing came and went, it emerged the parties and their lawyers were deep in discussions before a mediator and that the case would not return to court until Monday.

It now seems likely that the case, dubbed "spice wars", will finally be settled.
