Police appealed for witnesses yesterday after a £50,000 speed camera was destroyed by arsonists as bystanders filmed their handiwork.
The Warwickshire Casualty Reduction Partnership said the GATSO camera had been damaged beyond repair by the attack at its site near The Belfry golf course.
The vandals placed tyres around the camera housing on the A4091 at Wishaw, near Coleshill, at about 11.30pm on Monday before setting them alight.
Warwickshire Police said a number of people were reported to be videoing at the scene as the camera burned, although they had left by the time officers attended.
