Former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney was cleared of speeding at 131mph yesterday after a police officer failed to attend his trial.
Gaffney, who was alleged to have committed the offence on the M40 in Warwickshire, was said to be "over the moon" at prosecutors' decision to offer no evidence against him.
Speaking after the hearing at Leamington Spa Magistrates' Court, Gaffney's solicitor Nick Freeman said his client had always denied breaking the speed limit in his Audi.
Mr Freeman, who has become known as "Mr Loophole" after helping a string of stars to successfully fight motoring charges, revealed that Gaffney had also been awarded costs.
The 28-year-old, of Cobham, Surrey, was allegedly "lasered" travelling at 131mph near Warwick Services.
