Some of the UK's most skilful skateboarders, BMX riders and micro-scooter riders rolled into Birmingham this weekend for the launch of a new StarCity extreme sports attraction.
Skate Park is the first in the world to be built with a 100 per cent recycled surface called SK8 Board.
It was developed after four years of research to find a durable, environmentally friendly material that could be used as a skateboarding surface.
The launch event on Saturday featured Team Adrenaline, whose members include professional riders from the UK plus European number two micro-scooter rider, Martin Kimble.
Trevor Markham, managing director of the company that built the Skate Park, Urban Ramps, said the material used to create the park made it perfect for an urban environment.
Skate Park is the latest attraction to be unveiled as part of an ongoing investment in StarCity by owner X-Leisure. It has recently launched a 30 metre snow slope, a 10 metre climbing wall, Europe's longest assault course, situated 15 metres in the air, and an interactive horror experience called 'The Crypt'.
Skate Park is aimed at attracting extreme sports fans from all over the region and it will be open weekdays from 4-10pm and at weekends and holidays from 12-10pm. Sessions cost from £3.
