Former Birmingham city councillor Sir Bernard Zissman is to be the new chairman of Millennium Point.

Sir Bernard will succeed Bob Jordan, who is standing down at the end of the month.

A former chairman of the Millennium Point Development Committee, Sir Bernard played a leading role in securing £50 million funding from the Millennium Commission to construct the land-mark building at Eastside.

Sir Bernard said: "It is a great privilege to have been invited to become the next chairman of the Millennium Point Trust. We have finalised a ten-year strategic plan and put our finances on firmer foundations.

"We are also in a key position in relation to the city's ambition in the development of the multi-billion pound Eastside and the City Park."
