An 18-year-old became Britain’s youngest mother to give birth to conjoined twins yesterday.

Laura Williams, of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, had twin girls Faith and Hope by Caesarean section at London’s University College Hospital.

Asked how mother and babies were doing, a family spokesman said: “All is looking fairly positive.”

Mrs Williams and her husband Aled, 28, from Anglesey, spoke about their decision to continue with the pregnancy.

Mrs Williams said: “Sometimes I think about the worst so I’m prepared for it but if it works out then I’ll be really happy. If they’re meant to be in this world and if they’ve come this far, we’ve got to hope they’ll make it the rest of the way.”
