A wealthy Birminghan family were last night still in hiding after their million-pound mansion was targeted by gunmen in the early hours of the morning.

Windscreens of three cars, parked outside the home in Little Aston, Sutton Coldfield, were damaged as a volley of shots was fired in a drive-by shooting.

Armed police were sent to Roman Road - dubbed Millionaire's Row - after receiving a number of frantic calls from worried neighbours who heard the gunfire, but the offenders had already sped away.

Forensic officers yesterday carried out a fingertip search of the area looking for vital clues as detectives tried to determine a motive for the shooting.

The family have been moved to a safe location.
