A woman stole £13,000 from a fashion shop where she was promoted to supervisor but was caught by a detective when she tried to book a oneway ticket to Spain.
Melanie Wainwright (20) of Peach Avenue, Stafford, pleaded guilty to theft at Stafford Crown Court and was jailed for four months.
David Iles, prosecuting, said Wainwright worked for New Look fashions in Stafford and took the money from a safe. "She was caught on closed circuit television and went to Spain, but came back," he said.
Martin Liddiard, defending, said: "She is deeply ashamed of what she did and is trying to work out how she can repay the money."
