Former Worcestershire and Kent fast bowler Alamgir Sheriyar has signed for Walsall.

The left-armer will play for the club throughout the 2006 season unless he is able to secure a contract with a first-class county.

The 32-year-old was released from Kent at the end of last season having not broken into their Champion-ship team throughout the season.

He did, however, play twice for Worcestershire last year having become the first man to go out on loan in English cricket. He has 503 first-class wickets at a cost of 30 apiece.

Walsall, in the Premier Division of the Birmingham League, have also recruited two young seamers: Tom Freeman, from Pelsall, and left-armer Andy Hawkins. Former Nottinghamshire batsman Graeme Archer has rejoined the club. The club's overseas player will be Gerrie Snyman, a 24-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder who has played five ODIs for Namibia. ..SUPL:
