Two Albanian women believed to have been trafficked to the UK for use in the sex industry have been rescued during a raid at a massage parlour.

The women, aged 19 and 31, were discovered at a premises in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham earlier this week.

The pair were taken to safety following the raid which was part of Operation Pentameter, a nationwide initiative designed to crackdown on women and children being trafficked to Britain for sexual exploitation.

A woman wanted by Lithuanian police in relation to allegations of kidnap was also arrested during the operation at the Burbank Suite on Tuesday evening and remains in custody, a force spokesman said.

The force worked with colleagues from the Serious Organised Crime Agency.
