A man, who took part in a gang sex attack on a woman after she was "lured" into a car in Birmingham, has been jailed for six years.

In passing sentence on Kamran Arif, Judge Derek Stanley said he and two other men had committed an "appalling" sexual assault on the 27-year-old mother-of-two.

Arif (21) of Newton Road, Sparkhill, who previously admitted a charge of indecent assault, was also ordered at the city's crown court to register as a sex offender for life.

Stefan Kolodynski, prosecuting, said in August 2003 the woman had visited a number of bars in Broad Street with friends before catching a taxi at 1.30am.

She got into a vehicle but the driver stopped and two men, including the defendant, got in. She tried to smash a window before being forced to perform a sex act on Arif.
