A foreign policy expert is to examine the impact of the death of the world’s most wanted terrorist in a special seminar the city.
Former journalist Scott Lucas, who is professor of American Studies at the University of Birmingham, will probe the likely developments which will follow the demise of Osama Bin Laden, who was killed when American commandos raided his Pakistani hide-out.
The event is being hosted by the British American Business Council (BABC) from 8.30am on Thursday.
He said: “The US faces serious situations in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Bin Laden’s death does not alleviate them.
“To the contrary, it has highlighted tensions in US policy and strategy, including the US-Pakistani relationship and the US military presence in Afghanistan.”
One of the areas that Prof Lucas will be examining is business, and he will look at the implications of the terrorist leader’s death on corporate life both within the borders of the US, and internationally.
The seminar, at Chamber House, on Harborne Road, Edgbaston, is free to both members and non-members.
