A 15-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his pillion passenger was critically injured when their machine collided with a car.

West Mercia Police said the driver of the car suffered severe shock after the crash, which happened shortly before noon on Sunday on the Rotherwas Trading Estate, south of Hereford.

The blue Vauxhall Cavalier was travelling east along Netherwood Road and was turning into Ramsden Road when it was in collision with the scrambler motorbike, which was also travelling east along Netherwood Road.

A police spokesman said: "There were two teenagers riding the scrambler bike at the time.

"The 15-year old rider was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics."

The pillion passenger, a 13-year-old boy, is in a critical condition in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, having sustained multiple lifethreatening injuries.

The car left the scene but the driver was arrested a short while later at a premises near the scene.

"He was suffering from acute shock and was later admitted to hospital himself," the spokesman added.
