A woman has been banned from working as a biomedical scientist after she stole cash from a colleague and failed to tell a prospective employer about her criminal record.
Balvinder Degan was struck off the Health Professions Council (HPC) register after a panel heard details of the thefts and that the scientist had failed to declare her police record when applying for a new job with the NHS Blood and Transplant Service.
The conduct and competence committee heard that Mrs Degan was cautioned by police in December 2006, for twice taking a bank card from a fellow hospital worker and withdrawing £550.
But the panel was told that in November this year, Mrs Degan failed to declare this police caution when applying for a new job as biomedical scientist.
They found that Degan was guilty of gross misconduct.
