Staff and pupils at the Worcestershire school where Rachel Entwistle taught were struggling yesterday to come to terms with the tragic deaths.
Mrs Entwistle taught drama and English at St Augustine's RC School, in Stone Pitts Lane, for three years and left last year to return to America.
School principal Yvonne Brennan said: "Rachel was a very beautiful, bubbly, vivacious and happy person.
"Her joy at being a mum was infectious and she often contacted us to update us on the progress of her beautiful girl.
"We feel great sadness at Rachel and Lillian Rose's deaths, they were two people who gave a lot of joy and we pray for them and their families."
A special assembly including prayers was held yesterday morning to inform staff and pupils of their deaths.
The deputy head, Paul Farr, said the school would be conducting tributes in line with the school's Catholic faith.
The Entwistles rented a house in Swan Drive, Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, and former neighbour Janet Whelton, 32, said they seemed like any "normal" couple.
"I only knew them by their first name, I remember she had an American accent and I used to see him going to work every day dressed very smartly in a suit.
"She was pregnant when I knew them and then they moved out when the baby was just a few weeks old," she said.
The couple had set up a website detailing their love affair which shows recent pictures of them and Lillian.
Before his marriage, Mr Entwistle, wrote about his forthcoming wedding to Rachel on the Friends Reunited website.
He said: "Getting married to the most amazing woman in the world this summer: Rachel."
