Dear Editor, What a splendid suggestion it is from the British Heart Foundation that Kiss of Life and other life saving first-aid techniques should be taught in schools.
I am sure that present-day pupils in upper junior and secondary schools would welcome lessons that have potential to provide such critical service to the wider community. I would suggest that badges of competence could be awarded to those youngsters who pass any required tests. These signal badges, in varied appropriate finishes, could be worn on games kit, school uniform and leisure clothes with pride.
A large private or public company may see fit to finance such a badge scheme.
I believe most young people today think responsibly, and with concern for their fellow beings, and would welcome a singular chance to publicly demonstrate this.
