John Toshack will bring an end to Robbie Savage's international career under his charge when he names his squad today for the World Cup qualifiers against England and Poland.
The Wales manager is certain to overlook the former Birmingham City midfield player and Savage, now with Blackburn Rovers, will be left in no doubt that a change of heart from Toshack is not in the offing.
Savage has clung to the belief he could still be in Toshack's plans and the midfielder has made calls to FA of Wales officials this week seeking advice.
But Toshack and Savage have not spoken and the Wales boss will continue his restructuring of the team by naming a squad abundant with youngsters.
He has been encouraged by the friendly draw with Slovenia as well as Tuesday night's Under-21 victory over Malta.
Support for Toshack's stance regarding Savage has come from within the squad, further demonstrating that the 30-year-old will not be back while the former Real Madrid boss remains national team coach.
Savage will be 34 by the time of the Euro 2008 finals - the target for Wales, whose World Cup chances faded under former boss Mark Hughes.
