Aston Villa's deadline-day signing Moustapha Salifou will finally join up with the club after obtaining a work permit.

The Togo international, who has signed a one-year deal, has been training with his former club FC Wil in Switzerland until clearance was received.

Villa manager Martin O'Neill said: "Moustapha had a bit of difficulty in getting a permit but I've been told by the agent he should now be here in the next day or so.

"He obviously hasn't been playing so we will have to have a look and see what sort of shape he is in."

Midfielder Salifou, 24, had previously played for French club Stade Brest and German outfit RW Oberhausen.
