Walsall will be hoping they continue on the Wright road to promotion for the next couple of months after adding a striker to their table-topping squad.

Manager Richard Money yesterday secured the services of Barnsley's Tommy Wright on a two-month loan deal but also sent youngster James Constable to Kidderminster Harriers for same period.

Wright, who helped the Yorkshire side win promotion last season, has been a bit part player at Oakwell in Barnsley's Championship campaign but at the age of 22 has a decent future.

He has scored one league goal in four starts and 13 substitute appearances so far as Barnsley have slumped to second from bottom.

But Money expressed his pleasure at bringing the former Leicester City man to Bescot Stadium and hoped it would lead to a full transfer.

"I am delighted to be able to bring Tommy in on loan until January with a view to a permanent deal," said Money. "He is a player that I have known about since he was a youngster; he is strong, aggressive, good in both boxes and runs the channels well.

"His arrival will give everyone a boost and I feel that he will do well for us. He's had decent loan spells at Brentford and Blackpool in the past and has played in the first-team for Barnsley this season."

His last sustained run of first team action came at Bloomfield Road this time last year when he bagged six goals in ten starts and he has been brought in to give Walsall more cutting edge.

Although they are top of League Two by six points they have had trouble in front of goal of late with just two in their last five games.

Meanwhile, Constable has completed a loan switch to Nationwide Conference outfit, Kidderminster:

"There were a lot of clubs wanting to take James on loan," revealed Money.  "This move will do him the world of good as he will be playing regularly at a decent level. The fact that Kidderminster is nearby means we will be able to closely monitor his progress and the hope is that he will score some goals and gain plenty of confidence."

After coming to the club from Chippenham Town last year Constable has made nine starts, just two in the current term.
