A Royal Marine died today from wounds sustained in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said.

His death from injuries he suffered on Monday means four British service personnel died today from incidents in Afghanistan.

Three soldiers were killed when a bomb struck their Land Rover today.

The Marine, from 45 Commando Royal Marines, died in Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, as a result of injuries from enemy fire while on a reassurance patrol near Sangin in Northern Helmand, a spokeswoman said. Next of kin have been informed.
