A Birmingham-based society that awards companies with health and safety status is celebrating a milestone achievement - its golden jubilee.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is entering the 50th year of awarding local businesses as having a safe workplace.
As part of RoSPA's celebrations, a programme has been initiated to encourage more businesses in the area to be safety conscious. The scheme is continuing to expand and there were more than 1,300 winners in 2005 of the Occupational Health and Safety Awards.
Firms can win prizes at an award ceremony to be held at the NEC on May 10 and 11.
Errol Taylor, RoSPA's acting chief executive, said: "In the award's 50th year we want to encourage all organisations to think in terms of 24/7 safety."
The deadline for entries is February 28 and nomination brochures are available by calling 0870 7772091 or you can also apply online at www.rospa.com/awards.
