A body recovered from a river yesterday may be that of a teenager who went missing in early December, police said last night.

Officers probing the disappearance of Jack Macleod said it was too early to say whether a body pulled from the River Leam in Leamington Spa was that of the 17-year-old.

The body of a young male was found in the water between Adelaide Bridge and Prince's Bridge at 11am.

A post-mortem is set to take place today along with attempts to formally identify the body.

Det Insp Bob Bradbury, of Warwickshire Police, said: "It is possible that this is the body of missing person Jack Macleod, also known as Fisher, but until we have a formal identifi-cation we cannot confirm this.

"We will know whether it is Jack or not by tomorrow lunchtime."

Jack was last seen in the early hours of December 4 near Leamington Pump Room Gardens.
