Young singers are needed at Coventry Cathedral and anyone interested is invited to give life as a chorister a trial run on Saturday.

Vocal coach Hilary Jones is to run a special singing workshop and aspiring choristers will give a performance to parents at the end of the afternoon. Mothers and fathers will also have chance to meet other choir families and ask questions about singing for the cathedral.

Alistair Reid, acting director of music, said he hoped the event would dispel ideas about "stuffy" church choirs and demonstrate how much fun they can be.

All children aged between eight and 11 years are welcome at the workshops which will take place in the Cathedral lecture hall between 1pm and 3pm. Parents should arrive at 2.30pm for the performance.

Anyone interested should contact Mr Reid on 02476 521213 for more information.
