Danny Davidson suffered a rollercoaster of emotions in firing Moor Green to their first victory of the season at Worcester City.

Davidson's first goal for the Moors since his summer move from Tamworth earned a 1-0 verdict at St George's Lane, but the striker's delight turned into disappointment when he was sent off 18 minutes from time (right) for a second booking.

The only goal came on 32 minutes after Phil Trainer linked up with ex-City player Darren Middleton and Davidson slid in at the far post to convert Middleton's cross.

City had earlier had the better chances with Moors goalkeeper Danny Lewis denying Troy Wood and Chris Smith but City No 1 Danny McDonnell came to his side's rescue to keep out Richard Scott's 58th minute free-kick.

Nuneaton Borough had no answer to the deadly finishing of hat-trick hero Terry Fearns as they were thumped 4-2 at early season table-toppers Droylsden.

Gez Murphy's left-footed strike from Mark Noon's flick had hauled Boro level two minutes before half-time to cancel out Fearns' fifth-minute opener but Droylsden turned on the style in the second period. Fearns (51, 73 mins) completed his treble to sandwich a Chris Denham goal (65) before Scott Rickards smashed home Boro's second with a 20-yard free-kick in the last minute.

Redditch United came closest to a goal at Leigh RMI but they had to settle for a goalless draw at Hilton Park.

Though Reds' Richard Anstiss had been the busier keeper in terms of saves, Redditch ended the stronger.

Redditch substitute Francino Francis was denied by home shot-stopper John Lamb with 15 minutes left while James Knott's 89th-minute header bounced off the underside of the crossbar.

*AFC Telford United's record signing Steve Foster opened his goals account on his debut but the Bucks had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Grantham Town in the UniBond League Premier Division.

Hednesford Town's first game in the UniBond proved a frustrating one as they lost 2-0 at home to Marine, spurning several chances in the process.
