Warwickshire could take just a point from their Twenty20 Cup encounter against Gloucestershire as rain ruined an eagerly awaited match.

With just one victory from four matches, Warwickshire may now need to win all four of their home games to ensure their progression to the quarter-final stage.

Certainly the losing sides in tomorrow and Friday's encounters at Edgbaston - against Glamorgan and Worcestershire respectively - face an early elimination.

In the circumstances, Warwickshire should probably feel satisfied with the point. Had the rain relented, Gloucestershire could have faced the relatively simple task of scoring their Duckworth Lewis target of 46 from five overs.

Having lost the toss in dark conditions, the visiting batsmen were struggling to see the ball. Jon Lewis, the seamer they tried to lure to Edgbaston in the winter, bowled immaculately, conceding just six from his first three overs.

Just 37 balls were possible the last of which, appropriately enough, Ian Bell hit on to an umbrella.
