Bar staff and customers fought off a gang who burst into a Tamworth pub wielding a stun gun and a machete, forcing them to flee.

A staff member and a customer were injured when they tackled the three offenders, who entered the Centurion Park pub at 11.20pm on Sunday.

Staff were preparing to close the premises when the three men came in and demanded cash. About 20 customers were in the bar at the time.

The injuries of the two who were hurt were not thought to be serious.

The offenders, all in their 20s, then fled in a waiting dark-coloured Audi. Staffordshire Police think the gang may be connected to a robbery which took place half an hour later at the Digby Hotel in Water Orton.
