Andy Skinner, who compiled the rich list, said: "If you are looking for a foundation to build on, then look no further than property for your wealth.

"An overwhelming number of millionaires in the Midlands Rich List have either made their money in property or successfully invested in property."

Tony Lennox, acting editor of The Birmingham Post, said the list highlighted the entrepreneurial talent in the region.

He said: "Historically, the men and women of the Midlands have earned their wealth through hard work and creativity - and their wealth creation has traditionally brought benefits to the people of the region.

"It's good to see that these principles appear to still hold true."
