A "relentless, predatory paedophile" who has spent more than 20 years behind bars for sex attacks on women and girls was jailed for eight years yesterday for "grooming" a girl of nine.
Keith Tomlinson's previous sentences include a 12-year prison term for raping a girl of 11 at knifepoint after abducting her from a girl guides' camp in Staffordshire.
He was sentenced yesterday for indecently assaulting the nine-year-old near his Northampton home.
Bearded Tomlinson (43), of Cottage Gardens, Great Billing, admitted meeting and trying to befriend the youngster near her home in The Mounts area of the town.
He appeared before a judge at Northampton Crown Court for sentence after pleading guilty to one count of meeting a child following sexual grooming and one charge of sexual assault of a child under 13.
Sentencing him, Judge Charles Wide QC, told Tomlinson: "You are an absolutely relentless, predatory paedophile. One needs to look no further than your history to see that."
The court was told Tomlinson was caught after the girl took his car registration number and told her parents what he had done.
Judge Wide banned Tomlinson from working with or being alone around young people for the rest of his life.
The court heard that Tomlinson was first jailed in July 1984 for three months for having sex with an underage girl. He was cleared of raping the same girl.
He was later given a 12-month jail term for having sex with another young girl. A crime committed hours after he was released from prison.
And just a year after finishing the 12-month sentence, at the end of 1986, Tomlinson was jailed for 12 years for raping the young girl guide.
Tomlinson was jailed for ten years in August 1994 for another sex attack, carried out within a month of being released from prison, when he raped a 22-year-old after posing a policeman.
