Stefan Postma is expected to return to Aston Villa's training ground at Bodymoor Heath today still looking for a new club after a premature end to his short trial with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The third-choice Aston Villa goalkeeper, who is in the final year of his contract and who has been looking for a move for some months, had been due to spend the entire week training with Wolves at Compton Park.

But, after playing for them in Tuesday night's 2-1 reserve team defeat to Newcastle United, he has been allowed to return to Villa.

Everything would appear to hinge on Postma's desire to play more first-team football. Although Wolves are light on goalkeeping strength in depth due to the injuries to Matt Murray and Paul Jones, they have an obvious No 1 firmly in place in former Villa man Michael Oakes.

Postma has had that spelt out to him and his search for a new club must go on.

Meanwhile, Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle is trying to persuade previously unsettled striker Kenny Miller to withdraw his transfer request and sign a new contract.

The 25-year-old Scottish international, the subject of two seven-figure bids from Sunderland this summer, has been on the list since the summer of 2004.

With just over ten months left on his contract, Wolves could lose him for nothing on a Bosman next summer. But Hoddle would still like to keep Miller.

"We want him to sign a new deal," he said. "He's shown he can be a Premier League player. He has enough ability and his game has improved over the last few months."

* Wolves' home match against Queens Park Rangers, which the club were hoping to put back 24 hours from August Bank Holiday Monday, has been confirmed for the following night, Tuesday August 30 (7.45).
