The father of the three children found dead in a disused Shropshire quarry, died from multiple injuries, police have said.

A post mortem examination on 35-year-old Ceri Fuller concluded: "The post mortem established that Mr Fuller died from multiple injuries consistent with falling from a height."

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson, the officer leading the investigation, said formal identification of Mr Fuller and his children Sam (12), Rebecca (8) and Charlotte (7) was due to be carried out by a family member on Thursday.

Post mortems on the children showed all three died from stab injuries. A knife has been recovered from the scene.

An inquest into the four deaths is expected to open next week.

Police are continuing their murder investigation in both Shropshire and at the family's home area near the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.

The bodies were discoverd at Poles Coppice, Pontesbury Hill, near Shrewsbury on Monday.

Police are seeking to identify the route taken by Mr Fuller in his red Land Rover Freelander on leaving the family home last Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

The vehicle was in Leominster at around midday on Thursday, in Newtown at around 3pm and in the Welshpool area just after 3.30pm.

DCI Jamieson said: "We are continuing to check CCTV cameras for sightings of the vehicle or its four occupants along various routes and we maintain our appeal for any information which might assist the investigation. The numbers to call at Shrewsbury police station are either 101 or 0300 333 3000.

"We are also continuing our efforts to establish Mr Fuller's link with Shropshire and in particular, with the Pontesbury area."

Meanwhile, various forensic examinations are being conducted but police searches and other work on Pontesbury Hill are now complete and the scene has been released for public access.
