British Transport Police ahve appealed for help in identifying three men they want to speak to in connection with a serious assault on a passenger at Dudley Port railway station.
Detectives investigating the assault have issued CCTV images of two of the three men they believe can help with their enquiries into the incident which happened on Sunday, May 30.
At about 7.40pm, the 37-year-old victim was at Dudley Port rail station with his cousin when he was approached by two men who engaged him in conversation.
A third man then approached and assaulted the victim who was punched several times to the ribs and head, causing him to fall to the floor. He was left with serious head injuries and is still undergoing treatment in hospital.
Detective Constable Martyn Guest, one of the investigating officers, said: “This was an extremely nasty, apparently unprovoked assault which has left a man in hospital with serious head injuries.
“As a result of his injuries, we have not yet been able to interview the victim to establish exactly what happened but, at this point, no motive for this assault has been identified.
“Officers are continuing to make enquiries in the area and are viewing CCTV from a number of different locations.
“In the meantime, I would appeal to anyone who recognises any of the men in these CCTV images to come forward and speak to us in confidence.
“It’s vital that we find those responsible for this incident as soon as possible.”
The men BTP would like to identify are described as being black and in their 20s.
One had close cropped black hair, was of athletic build and wore a black T-shirt with a motif on the front and small motif on the rear right shoulder, blue faded designer denim jeans with a red fringed scarf/hanky protruding from the rear right pocket, black footwear and a large chunky neck chain.
The second man had close cropped black hair, was of proportionate build and was wearing a white T-shirt, light blue trousers and black trainers with two vertical white stripes.
The third man, who was only photographed from the rear on CCTV, was of athletic build, with shaved head and was wearing a blue T-shirt with a motif on the rear right shoulder, black trousers and white trainers.
All three made off on foot out of the rail station car park before turning right onto the A461 Dudley Port Road.
