Dear Editor, It was announced on the local radio recently that further demonstrations are planned in Birmingham by rival political factions.

They may take place on the same day. The police have the power to prevent this from happening. Innocent people can get injured in civil disturbances as I have witnessed in London and other cities over the years.

Question to the police: are rival rallies being allowed to provide police training in riot control?
