Powers allowing police to take action against groups of youngsters have been extended to the Ladywood area of Birmingham.

The measures, part of the 2003 Anti-Social Behaviour Act, will be in force until the end of the year, allowing officers to disperse youths likely to cause intimidation or alarm to the public.

Local children are being encouraged to take part in a series of specially laid-on activities before the new rules come in, covering major routes including Dudley Road and Ladywood Middleway.
