Police in Birmingham have been getting into the festive spirit by helping to make and distribute food hampers to people who have been affected by crime.

The hampers, made up of donations from local residents, schools and police officers, have been handed out to burglary victims in Sparkbrook.

Natasha Bruckshaw, a police community support officer from the Sparkbrook neighbourhood team, said: "This project has been made possible thanks to great community spirit demonstrated by the people of Sparkbrook.

"I would especially like to thank Ladypool School, Christchurch School, Conway School, Montgomery School, Golden Hillock School and the Moseley and Sparkbrook Rotary Club who have all assisted greatly.

"This is another chance for them to get involved in a community project and to witness first hand the positive impact they are having in the area where they live and go to school."
