Police have issued an appeal to track down an alleged sex offender on the run in Warwickshire.

Officers are keen to trace Francis Grybowicz, who failed to attend crown court on sexual assault, threats to kill and false imprisonment charges earlier this year.

The 46-year-old, who is believed to be living rough in south Warwickshire, was charged with the offences following an incident in Wilmcote, Stratford-on Avon, in December

2004.

He is also wanted for questioning by detectives in Worcester in connection with an assault on a woman on July 13.

A crown court bench warrant was issued on April 1 this year when Mr Grybowicz did not turn up at Warwick Crown Court to answer the charges.

He had a condition to live at an address in Kidderminster but breached the condition.

He has not been since but detectives are now following up a reported sighting of him in Aston Cantlow Road, Wilmcote, on Tuesday when he was wearing a combat jacket and blue jeans.

The force helicopter was scrambled to search for Mr Grybowicz but he was not located.

He is 5ft 7ins tall with dark hair and brown eyes.

He also has a moustache, a scar on his left cheek and several tattoos on his arms including the words Franchzek Richard Grybowicz, an image of a swallow and the words Wolves and Fran.

Police warned members of the public not to approach Mr Grybowicz who may be violent.

Det Sgt Keith Beasley of Warwickshire Police has appealed to anyone with knowledge about his whereabouts or who has any other information to assist the police investigation to contact Stratford CID on 01926 415000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
