Detectives investigating the deaths of a couple whose bodies were found by fire crews after a house blaze are not looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry, police said today.

Dawn Mansfield, 37, and her partner Noel Lee, 40, were found dead at the house they shared in the Church Hill area of Redditch, Worcestershire, on Monday.

West Mercia Police said post-mortem examinations indicated that Ms Mansfield died of suffocation and that her death was being treated as murder.

Mr Lee died from burns sustained during the fire, which centred on an upstairs bedroom at the terraced property.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Sean Paley, leading the investigation, said his thoughts were with the families of the deceased.

"This is a tragic incident. We would renew our appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity of Loxley Close on Monday 26 June, between 8.30am and 10am, or anyone else who thinks they may have relevant information, to get in touch."
