Police are attempting to trace the last movements of an 18-year-old Latvian man who was killed on a Staffordshire road.

Edijs Sustins was found with head injuries consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle in Fosseway Lane, Lichfield, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mr Sustins came to the UK earlier this month and was working on a farm in the Lichfield area.

Det Insp Andy Spiers, who is leading the investigation, said Mr Sustins was found in the road in Fosseway Lane just after 3am on Sunday.

He said: "It is very important that we build up a picture of his movements in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"He had been out with his friends late on Saturday night in Lichfield city centre before it appears he had been split from them.

"We're appealing for anyone who may have seen Edijs walking in The Friary or Birmingham Road area of Lichfield in the early hours of Sunday morning."

Mr Sustins was slim and about 5ft 10ins tall.

At the time of his death he was wearing a black or dark grey t-shirt and dark blue jeans.
