Women across the Midlands are being urged to pull on their trainers to take part in one of the biggest charity 5k races, which willl be staged simultaneously in Birmingham, Liverpool and London next month.

The adidas Women’s 5k Challenge, which takes place on September 7, is set to attract more than 10,000 runners of all ages and abilities to the city.

More than 30,000 runners took part in last year’s event across the three venues, who raised more than £2 million for official race charity Breast Cancer Care.

This year will be Birmingham’s sixth year to be hosting the event and organisers hope a record number of runners will sign up to take part, alongside some of the world’s top athletes and celebrities.

The race will start and finish in Centenary Square, with thousands of women running up and down Broad Street to complete the distance.

David Bedford, the race director, said: “Whether you’re looking to get in shape for the summer, or kick start a new healthier lifestyle, entering and training for the adidas Women’s 5km Challenge is a perfect way for women to keep fit and feel healthier whilst also raising valuable funds for a vast number of charities.

“You can walk, jog or run whilst enjoying the enjoying the day, feeling a sense of achievement for what you have accomplished.”
