Police have seized cannabis plants worth more than £1 million on a Black Country industrial estate.

Officers seized approximately 3,000 cannabis plants during the raid at Fisher Street Industrial Estate, Tipton, and arrested two Vietnamese nationals.

A 32-year-old male and a 16-year-old youth – both of no fixed address - have been charged and remanded in custody.

Police also seized ventilation and lighting materials during the raid and deconstructed a large hydroponic set-up.

Detective Inspector Wayne Jones, from CID, said: "We are extremely pleased with the results of this raid, and believe it sends out a clear message to criminals - we are cracking down on drug crime.

"The seized cannabis has now been destroyed to ensure it never reaches the streets of Sandwell.

"Drugs will not be tolerated in Sandwell and we will continue to concentrate our efforts to stamp out drug-related crime for good.

"We would also like to remind commercial landlords to regularly check their rented / vacant premises, to make sure they are not being used unlawfully."
