A 1996 Coventry-built Jaguar owned by Pink Panther film star Herbert Lom will be one of 50 “interesting and collectable” vehicles due to go under the hammer later this month.

The metallic blue XJ Executive Saloon, which Lom has owned since 2005, is expected to fetch at least £3,000 when it is auctioned at the Classics from BCA sale, to be held at Blackbushe airport, Surrey, on July 22.

Mr Lom, who played Chief Inspector Dreyfus against Peter Sellers’ Clouseau in the Pink Panther films, is a fan of Jaguar cars.

“My Jaguar XJ Executive has been a great pleasure to own,” the 90-year-old, Prague-born, actor said.

“It is a smooth drive and an extremely comfortable car, as many of my showbusiness friends who have travelled in it as passengers over the years have remarked.

“I am a great Jaguar fan, so it is with some sadness that I part company with this car,” he added.
