Yorkshire's seven-wicket victory over Lancashire at Head-ingley ensured their first entry into the quarter-finals of the Twenty20 Cup as one of the best two third-placed slots behind Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire in the North Division.

Ronnie Irani scored 100 not out against Sussex as Essex guaranteed top spot in the South Division with a four-wicket victory at Hove.

Surrey leapfrogged Kent into second place with a 60-run victory at Canterbury although both sides joined Irani's team in the last eight, Kent qualifying as the best third-placed team with ten points, one more than York-shire and Warwickshire.

Gloucestershire and North-amptonshire complete the make-up. Warwickshire, with an inferior net run-rate to Yorkshire, missed out in the Mid/Wales/West despite beating Worcestershire.

Michael Lumb, with three sixes and nine fours, guided Yorkshire to victory with an unbeaten 84. Yorkshire will play Essex at Chelmsford on Monday, July 24.

At Hove, Irani's century took only 61 balls after Sussex, who won the toss, reached 173 for five. Irani hit two sixes and 13 fours before striking the final boundary off the last ball with the scores tied. Kent are drawn away to Leicestershire while Surrey will play at Gloucestershire on July 24.

Rob White, with 66 off 62 balls, and captain David Sales (68no) guaranteed a semi-final berth for North-amptonshire in an eight-wicket win over Gloucester-shire at Bristol, earning a match at Notts. The hosts, for whom Mark Hardinges hit an unbeaten 94 out of 154 for seven, had qualified as group winners.
